What to do

Offida.

Offida is one of the most beautiful towns in Le Marche, where you can easily imagine yourself in the Middle Ages. The first thing you see from a distance is the church of Santa Maria della Rocca, just outside the centro storico on a protruding rock. Offida also has an attractive triangular square, Piazza del Popolo, with the most important buildings of the city such as the Palazzo Comunale, with its high portico with seven arches and above it the Loggeta, Torre dell`Orologio and Teatro ‘Serpente Aureo’.

Chiesa di Santa Maria della Rocca.
Ascoli Piceno.

This medieval city, with no fewer than twenty-seven churches, is also called the city of a hundred towers and is actually one large open-air museum. The most beautiful churches include the Cattedrale di Sant’Emidio and on “the most beautiful square in Italy” Piazza del Popolo you will find the Chiesa di San Francesco.
Drink a coffee at Caffè Meletti or try the famous anise liqueur from Meletti and what you should not miss is the Olive Ascolane (fried stuffed olives), the recipe comes from this city.

One of the historical/cultural highlights of the year is the Quintana. In July and August, the streets and squares of Ascoli Piceno become the setting for this medieval knight’s game. With colorful parades through the city, residents show how proud they are of their city’s history. The icing on the cake is the joust, where knights on horseback race on a figure-eight course. The aim is to hit a doll (Moor) with a lance and thus win the trophy (Palio). (The provisional dates are: Saturday 9 July and Sunday 7 August 2022)

Grottammare Alta.

The little old Grottammare is definitely worth a visit, from Piazza Peretti you have a great view.

Ripatransone.

A tastefully restored town, at an altitude of 550 meters, with the narrowest alley (43 cm wide) in Italy.

Fermo.
The heart of this city, located at an altitude of 319 meters, is the elongated Piazza del Popolo. The restaurants and bars, located under the centuries-old arcades of the Loggia di San Rocco, make this one of the nicest squares in Le Marche.
On top of the Piazzale del Girfalco is not only the impressive Cattedrale di Santa Maria Assunta, but also the view is beautiful. Other attractions to visit are the underground basins (Cisterne Romane) and the “Teatro dell’Aquilla.

Torre di Palme.

Torre di Palme is a small old village, 100m above sea level, with cozy streets and a beautiful view over the sea.

Cascate di Forcella. (Waterfall)

This beautiful place is located near Acquasanta Terme, where you can relax on a warm summer afternoon. This cooling waterfall with a small lake is hidden between the trees. You can walk from the free car park to the lake in 5 to 10 minutes, via a well-maintained path.

Sellano (Umbria)

Sellano is 1 hour and 50 minutes from our accommodation, where the highest Tibetan suspension bridge in Europe was built in 2024. This new “Ponte Tibetano di Sellano” is over 500m long and ‘floats’ 175m above the valley where the Vigi river flows. The more than a thousand bridge steps lead you from the starting point Sellano to Montesanto. The other way around is not possible. It is possible to walk back through the valley to Sellano, but there is also a shuttle bus to Sellano. The ticket for the shuttle service must be booked online, the entrance ticket for the walk over the Tibetan suspension bridge can be purchased on site or online.
